City to hold gift-giving

The Dumaguete government has allocated P965,000 for the annual gift-giving and share a meal program for about 5,000 indigents families and children to be held December 15 and 20, the city the Social Welfare and Development Office said yesterday.

Marina Mendoza of the DSWD said they have requested P150,000 for the share-a-meal and P 815,000 for the gift-giving, to be held at the City Hall open court and at the Public Market Complex, respectively.

Each identified indigent resident will receive four kilos of rice and other basic commodities, and 3,000 poor children will avail of the share-a-meal.

The budget of this gift-giving will be sourced from the carnival rentals, trade fair and from the share of the city from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., the DSWD added.*MA
