| The Sipalay City government has allocated P600,000 as a counterpart fund for the establishment of blood bank stations in Negros Occidental.
Sipalay Vice Mayor Oscar Montilla said this is in support for the project proposed by Board Member Melvin Ibañez, chairperson of the Committee on Health of the Negros Occidental Sangguniang Pnlalawigan, to set up blood banks in some district hospitals, especially in Sipalay.]
The support to the project and the allocation of P600,000, were contained in two resolutions approved by the Sipalay City Council, copies of which forwarded to the the SP committee on Health chaired by Ibanez.
Records of the Negros Occidental Dengue Task Force showed that there have been at least 6,000 dengue cases, with 61 deaths
Ibanez had earlier said the provincial government of Negros Occidental has already informed the Department of Health of its plans to establish blood bank stations in various district hospitals of the province, which is aimed at giving immediate access to blood to dengue patients.
The Sangguniang Panglunsod of Cadiz City also passed a resolution calling for SP of Negros Occidental to provide free complete blood count, or blood testing services to indigent residents, at the Cadiz City District Hospital .
The Department of Health said dengue can be prevented by destroying the breeding sites and dengue-carrier mosquitos, seeking early consultation and treatment, opposing indiscriminate fogging and observing self protection.*GPB
