| The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers-Negros Occidental Chapter will hold the induction of its 2008 officers and directors, recognition and Christmas party Sunday at Hall A and B of Business Inn, in Bacolod City , a PSME press release said.
Registration will start at 1 p.m. followed by technical seminars on “Boiler Steam Plus” and “Compressed Air and Vacuum Systems Technology”. The induction and recognition program will follow at 6 p.m.
Chapter past presidents and guests from different industries who will receive the Most Supportive Companies awards for this year, will attend the event, the press release said.
Ramonito Alejandro, overall chairman and incoming chapter president, and Christopher Taclobos, chapter president, are inviting all mechanical engineers to attend the affair, where a grand raffle draw will be held, the press release said.

Himamaylan gets
COA recognition
The Commission on Audit awarded the city of Himamaylan, Negros Occidental, headed by Mayor Carminia Bascon as a “Local Government Unit with the Most Updated Budget Report,” a press release from the city said.
The recognition was received by city budget officer Roberto Segovia from COA chairman Guillermo Carague in rites held at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City recently.
Himamaylan was cited for its invaluable support and sustained efforts in achieving the objectives of the electronic New Government Accounting System.
Through the e-NGAS, the city has computerized the accounting process in making timely and accurate reports through a network with the Accounting, Budget and COA offices, the press release added.*

Seminarians to hold concert
The Sacred Heart Seminary will stage a Christmas concert called “Handog: To the World, Nation and Diocese”, December 14 and 15, at the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center , in Bacolod City , a press release from organizers said.
The yearly show, directed by Taffy Acot and produced by Fr. Jude Serfino, will feature the Voicesems – an all-seminarian singing group, with special participation of the Sacred Heart Seminary Priest-Formators and the Kabataang Silay Performing Arts and Rondalla Ensemble.
The Voicesems will also launch their first Music CD called “Brother's Keeper” which contains mostly original compositions of seminarians, the press release said.
Proceeds of the concert will go to the various projects of the Sacred Heart Shrine and the Sacred Heart School of Philosophy, as well as to the ongoing formation program of the Diocesan seminarians.
