Fisherman drowns

A fisherman drowned at the seashore of Sitio Canibol, Barangay Okiot, Bais City , Negros Oriental, Friday afternoon, records of the police provincial office showed yesterday.

Investigators identified the victim as Romeo Abueva, married, of Brgy. Consolacion, in Bais, who was fishing with his brother, Julian, and Judito Cabusog when the incident occurred.

Julian told the police Romeo drowned when he swan to grab his fishing rod made of bamboo pole.

He added that they rushed Romeo to the Bais District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, a farmer complained to the Valencia police station against unidentified suspects who butchered his 6-year-old pregnant cow in Barangay Bong-ao , Valencia , Tuesday afternoon.

Pelagio Olasiman, Jr., 53, married, said he tied his cow to a tree on a lot located 30 meters away from his house, and he left it there overnight.

At about 6 a.m. the following day, he said he was surprised that the cow had been butchered, with its head and bones left.

The police have launched a manhunt for the arrest of the suspects, who could be charged with violation of the Anti-Cattle Rustling Law.*RG
