Night of the Gitanas

Yes, it was the best show yet of flamenco Diva Mayen Lizares and belly dance goddess Irene Caram. It was a great idea to have cocktails before the show, which was a treat for all considering the good food of Sugarland's top chef Pancho Bringas doing the buffet.

“Tout Bacolod ” – meaning all of Bacolod , was there that night. And what a tour de force of a show with Grand Maestro Guillermo Gomez jetting in from Imperial Manila to stomp and click his castanets again to the elegant crowd's delight. Daughter Mayen showed where her dancing genes came from by literally kicking up some dust as she and her students performed all types of flamenco. Her advanced class showed how much they have perfected this art form, from their dancing form to their attitude. The audience perked up the moment they showed some leg.

Shapely bellies and fabulous costumes solicited the oohs and envious ahhs from the audience for Irene Caram as she gyrated and shook nerves with her sensuous belly dancing. Her students, too, did their thing with much aplomb making me shriek with delight. It sure did bring back memories when I worked in Morocco for Club Med resorts. Bravo! Bravo! Bravissimo!!!

STERLING BANK of Asia starts its operations in Bacolod today. Located in our old Clinica Garcia in Lacson Street , they've done a marvelous job remodeling the building and retaining the classic architecture. They promise to do a better job with their client's money!
