Christmas activities lined
up at Bacolod mall

Various activities are lined up for Christmas at SM City in Bacolod , a press release from events organizers said.

Renowned artist Bamboo Tonogbanua kicked off the Yuletide revelry with his Christmas Village at the Northwing lobby fronting the Event Centre. It showcases his collection of porcelain houses, figures, and electric trains simulating that of Swiss Alp scenery.

Also set are the Santa Corner for kids, who may have their photos taken with Santa on Dec. 8, 9, 13, and 15-25 from 3-6 p.m; Christmas Tree of Hope of Bantay Bata Foundation which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, at the Northwing lobby, which will run until Jan. 6, 2008;

“The Gift” on-the-spot Christmas card-making contest on Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. at the Event Centre organized by the Art Association of Bacolod led by Nune Lucio Alvarado, for children aged 8-12 years; the Carolling Cheers featuring singing groups in Bacolod, Dec. 3-6, 10-13, 17, 20 and 24;

Christmas Carolfest, a competition among choirs all over Negros Occidental, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m.; Annual Metro Manila Film Festival 3 p.m. Dec. 21, where showbiz stars will hold a grand float parade in Bacolod; and the first national Fireworks Competition and the First Bacolod City Fireworks Festival called “Pyromagic 2007” to be held Dec. 15 and 22 at 9 p.m. at the Fiesta Strip at SM Ground, the press release added.*

Day care centers get medicines

Day care centers in Bacolod City received cabinets with medicines as part of the Early Childhood Development project of Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Monday, a City Hall press release said.

Officials and representatives of barangays 1, 16 and Estefania were the initial recipients of the project, held in coordination with the Council for the Welfare of Children with Local Government Unit, and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.

Also present at the turnover were Vice Mayor Thaddeus Sayson, Councilor Celia Flor, Executive Secretary to the Mayor Goldwyn Nifras, Initerior and Local Government director Ireneo Asuga, and other city officials and department heads and employees, the press release added.*
