IN BACOLOD
Police visibility
up as thefts increase

Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, yesterday said police visibility will be intensified and monitoring of suspects will be heightened as complaints of thefts have become prevalent once again in downtown area of the city.

Most likely, the same suspects are behind these incidents and it is just a matter of time before the city police will be able to round them up and send them back to jail, Quebrar said.

The suspects are either out on bail or have been released from detention after serving their jail terms, he said.

Several complaints of theft were lodged yesterday at Police Precinct 1 ranging from cellular phone snatching, bag slashing and shoplifting at department stores.

Security guard Manuel Jamili of KJ Fairmart Department Store endorsed yesterday before Police Station 1 Maricon Delaben, 26, of Purok Star Apple, Rizal Extension, Barangay 27, Bacolod City for shoplifting.

Police reports said Jamili caught Delaben on the act of stealing six pieces of Kiwi leather instant wax shine and two bottles of Eskinol facial cleanser.

The security guard nabbed the suspect and brought him to the police station.

Another complaint of theft was recorded at the police station filed by Marietta Moransil, 45, of Sto. Rosario, Hinigaran town, Negros Occidental.

Moransil said that while she was walking along Luzuriaga-Gatuslao Streets, Bacolod , yesterday, she noticed that her bag was slashed by unidentified persons who took her wallet containing P20,000.

The victim immediately went to the police station to report the incident.*NAB
