Cost -sharing pushed
for barangay projects
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Rep. George Arnaiz (Neg. Or., 2nd District) has urged barangay officials in Dumaguete City to implement projects through cost-sharing and to set aside political bickering.

The best way in undertaking projects is “kurambos” (cost-sharing) among local government units, Arnaiz, former governor of Negros Oriental, said at the mass oath-taking of barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan officials, Thursday, at the City High School gymnasium in Dumaguete.

He also told the village chiefs to share a little of their powers, as through this, he was able to get the support of all the members of the provincial council, while he was still chief executive of the province.

The Tanjay City government will construct a boulevard patterned after that of the cities of Dumaguete and Bayawan, Tanjay administrator Erkki Lozarita said yesterday.

He said the project has an initial cost of P10 million and will be constructed starting next year. The city has allocated an initial amount of P4 million for the first phase.

The Negros Oriental government allotted P4 million and P2 million will be sourced from the office of Rep. George Arnaiz (NegOr, 2nd district).
