| Attractive prizes await the winners in the Lutong Garbo sa Sidlakang Negros set December 29 at the Conference Hall of the Provincial Agriculturist Office, as part of the forthcoming Buglas Festival 2007, organizers said yesterday.
Sylvia Uy, of the Negros Oriental Tourism Council and overall chairperson, said the Lutong Garbo is aimed at rediscovering, showcasing and promoting the cuisine traditions and the creative use of indigenous ingredients in the province.
Up for grabs for winners are gift packs and trophies, plus a cash prize of P10,000 for the first prize winner; and P7,000 and P5,000 for the second and third prize winners, respectively.
Consolation prizes of P1,00 each plus gift pack and certificates will be given to non-winners.
The Buglas Festival is set December 21 to 31.
The competition is open to all interested Filipino residents of Negros Oriental, of legal age, who must represent his/her own locality.
Each local government unit shall have only one entry duly endorsed by the city/town mayor, organizers added.
Winning dish entries of last year's Lutong Garbo contest are disqualified. However, non-winning entries are qualified to join in this year's contest.
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: palatability, 40 percent; originality, 40 percent; texture, 10 percent; and dish presentation or visual appeal and creativity, 10 percent.
