Alert up for renegade
with P1M bounty: PNP

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, Negros Occidental police director, yesterday urged Negrenses who may have any information on the whereabouts of a renegade Marine officer who took part in the Nov. 29 Manila Peninsula siege in Makati City to immediately inform the police.

Anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of Faeldon will receive a P1 million reward offered by President Gloria Arroyo, he said.

Franco said he has already informed police stations throughout Negros Occidental to be on the lookout for Capt. Nicanor Faeldon and to immediately arrest him should he seek refuge in the province. moremoremore

China wins Miss World

SANYA - A beaming Zhang Zilin was busy plotting her travels round the globe Sunday after the Chinese beauty wowed the home crowd to become China's first-ever Miss World.

The statuesque 23-year-old pipped her rival finalists from Angola and Mexico to take the crown at the 57th edition of the beauty pageant -- which organizers said was watched by a global television audience of two billion people.

The model-thin Zhang, who nevertheless says her favorite foods are chocolate and ice cream, was the tallest of the 106 contestants at six feet -- and was standing even taller after Saturday's win. moremoremore

SK leader denies kidnap
BY CARLA GOMEZ

“I was not kidnapped,” Lyn Lyn Diaz, Sangguniang Kabataan chair of Barangay Libertad, Esclante, said yesterday.

"I have informed my parents that I am fine but I cannot understand why they are telling people that I was kidnapped," Diaz told DYEZ Aksyon Radyo.

"They said they are going to file charges for kidnapping but who will they charge because I was not kidnapped," she said, adding that she is hiding in the house of a friend. moremoremore
