A birthday surprise

LA VIDA
NEGRENSE

A group of badminton buddies planned a surprise 40th birthday bash for their good friend Henry Yap. Preparations went underway as the group, composed of young professionals and business leaders, decided that the surprise party be held at Jonathan Lo's sprawling garden and poolside.

Around 60 guests arrived. They were guided to a nearby place where their vehicles can be parked, hidden from the celebrator.

Everything was well planned – from the delicious dinner, to the lechon, and cakes and sweets for dessert. It was lights off as the celebrator's car entered the main driveway while everyone stayed hidden, preparing to greet Henry, a “Happy, happy birthday!” Everyone enjoyed the hearty meals, and fun and laughter.

Moravia has once more transformed itself, this time into a chic, hip and fun art gallery. Years ago, it began as an Eastern European restaurant and then a Retro live band bar. It recently had its soft opening for a new image, while featuring outstanding artworks by multi-awarded Negrense artists headed by Nune Alvarado.

For the first time, the University of St. La Salle boys' secondary badminton team won the slot to represent Region 6 in the Palarong Pambansa this year. In the recently concluded NOPSSCEA, they clinched the title, and are preparing for the provincial meet this December. St. Scholastica's Academy won the girls' division and are likewise training for the upcoming meet.*
