La Salle XI rules group
BY CEDELF TUPAS

The University of St. La Salle avoided a quarterfinal early confrontation with powerhouse San Carlos and lined up for a possible titular showdown with arch rival West Negros College after winning its last group match yesterday in the NOFA Provincial Under-19 Football Championships in Bago City.

The La Sallians' 4-1 triumph over Kabankalan City clinched them the top spot in Group D, ahead of Don Bosco Technical Institute, which now has the unenviable task of facing San Carlos in the quarterfinals today.

Despite losing by default to Domingo Lacson National High School , San Carlos advanced as the top team in Bracket C with University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos placing second.

Don Bosco and San Carlos clash at 9 a.m., while USLS seeks a semifinal berth opposite West Negros in its 3 p.m. duel with the Recoletos booters.

The semifinals will be held on Sunday with another early semifinalist, Bago City meeting the winner of the San Carlos-DBTI match. The finals will be held Dec. 9 also at the Bago pitch.

Supporting the tournament are Superferry, Toyota-Bacolod and Davies Paints.*CPT
