Twilight of the regime

A regime that continues to self-destruct is like a plane running out of fuel whose pilot continues to hammer the fuel gauge with his fist instead of guiding the planer to the nearest airfield. Such is the situation of Gloria Arroyo. She is desperately trying to stay in power till 2010 which is quite a distance for a plane without fuel. She is propped up by most Cabinet men who are there for the money, by most congressmen who are there for the money, by many senators who are there for the money. There comes a time in a regime's life when money and power will not be able to make one reach his final objective.

Marcos had money and power, and a genius for cover-ups. As a matter of fact, in their cover up that the communists were doing the bombing, I nearly lost my life when they bombed the CR of our session hall on the 14 th storey, had it not been for the hand of God that guided me to use the stairs in the far side of the building some 50 meters away. After the explosion, men were seen running to their military jeep.

He had power over everybody. But sickness overruled him. A big lesson Gloria and all her yes-men can learn from. Their expertise for cover-ups won't save the day for them. Nobody thought that the popularity of Trillanes would soar to the sky and that of GMA would crumble below ground zero. When twilight comes to a regime, blunders left and right will the menu of the day. It's God's menu which no one can refuse. Rounding up the media people in the Manila Pen and bringing them to a military camp for investigation, might be the bell that will toll for GMA and her cohorts to prepare for the eventual coming of night.
