DALO protests delay
of labor cases

The Democratic Alliance of Labor Organization-Negros again assailed what it called the slow disposition of cases by the National Labor Relations Commission R egional Arbitration Board 6 and the Department of Labor and Employment in Bacolod City .

They also called for the removal of Executive Labor Arbiter Danilo Acosta and arbiters Phibun Pura and Romulo Sumalinog.

“Almost every year, workers picket these two offices to demand for a speedy resolution of cases filed by the workers, but it seems that their demand falls on deaf ears and have never been acted (upon),” DALO chairperson Alan Gozon said.

Gozon, whose group held a picket at the NLRC and DOLE offices on Thursday, claimed that inefficiency and anomalous decisions of labor arbiters are not being addressed.

They have also sent complaints to the Presidential Anti-Graft Commission and the NLRC central office, but no action has also been made, he said.

He added that there are cases filed in 2000 yet but have not yet been resolved, making the workers think that the NLRC rules and procedures are no longer observed if cases favor the respondent -employer.

Labor cases left pending for years is a violation of the NLRC rules, Gozon said.*NLG
