Enforcer's 'new look'
improves traffic: TMU

Despite criticism from the Federation of Bacolod Drivers Association, City Traffic Management Unit head Senior Inspector Levy Pangue said the new uniform of enforcers has helped improve traffic flow in Bacolod City.

Pangue said drivers have become more respectful towards traffic enforcers. The new uniform gave the enforcers a new image, he said.

Before he implemented the new uniform, Pangue said he presented he design and the color scheme to Mayor Evelio Leonardia and City Police diretor Supt. Ronilo Quebrar. Both approved the "new look" of the enforcers, Pangue said.

As to criticisms that the traffic group imitated the policemen with their uniform, Quebrar said a closer look will reveal that the uniforms are not the same.

"They are not similar. The color and the design are not the same," Quebrar said. He added there is nothing wrong with giving the enforcers a new look and it would not even be needed if the drivers only follow the traffic rules.

Pangue also said he received text messages criticizing his move but he simply ignored them. He said even criminology students in West Negros College and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos wear a uniform of the same color.*NAB
