Bacolod Rotaract Club
reaches out to children

An outreach program for pre-school children in Barangay Alimango, Escalante City, Negros Occidental, was conducted by the Rotaract Club of Metro Bacolod, University of St. La Salle Chapter District 3850, recently, a press release from the group said.

The group, in cooperation with a fastfood chain company, also conducted feeding activity and book donation to the recipients. Day care worker Dorothy Reboton led the holding of games, followed by distribution of food spearheaded by Al Ongsuco and Katrina Java.

Barangay captain Lily Yap led the donation of books to the children and thanked the group for reaching out to their barangay, the press release added.*

Talisay marks
Minuluan Festival

Talisay City in Negros Occidental will celebrate its 8th Minuluan Festival, Sept. 3 to 10, in honor of its patron saint, Nicolas de Tolentino, a press release from the city said.

The festivities will feature arts and cultural fair with various sports competitions, and Paralympics. A caravan will open the celebration, followed by a ribbon-cutting for the trade fair and a variety show.

A nightly band concert at the public plaza will be highlighted with the show of Viva Hot Babe Gwen Garci with Kitkat, Sammy and Jerry, Magica and Peanut, on Sept. 10, the press release also said.

There will also be cultural programs sponsored by the barangays, vendors and merchants, Sangguniang Kabataan, Sangguniang Panlungsod, educators and the transport sectors.

Also set are the dental and medical mission, two-day jobs fair and mobile passporting, dog show, playground demonstration, and streetdanceing competition to highlight the celebration, the press release added.*

Concert at plaza tomorrow

The SugarFree Band will stage their Biyaheng Bayan Caravan Concert, at the Bacolod City public plaza, tomorrow, 7 to 9 p.m., a press release from event organizers said.

The hottest OPM band from Manila will perform as part of the new low price scheme campaign of SuperFerry. The show will be hosted by Manila-based comedienne Tuesday Vargas.
