Dinner with a European touch
One of the nicest couples in town, Bernard and Perla Koehn, recently
arrived from their yearly summer vacation in Corsica and Paris.
To celebrate their arrival, they decided to host an intimate dinner
party with a few close friends at their swanky home.
The house has just been newly renovated and the moment the guests
arrived, they immediately gave a collective gasp of delight. It
was like entering an elegant French villa with its wide open spaces
and classy interiors. Our group composed of Raymond Fuentes, Robert
Harland, Boy Montilla, Cristy Montilla and Leda Barbers, livened
the air with the latest jokes and juicy happenings (courtesy of
Boy M!). We had cocktails and pica-pica in the terrace amidst lush
green plants while the couple regaled us with stories of their most
enjoyable holiday along the coast of Corsica and its breathtaking
view of the Mediterranean Sea. The excellent wine, chilled to perfection,
was light yet crisp on the palate with appetizing acidity. It set
the mood for a most enjoyable, relaxing evening.
How pleasant it was to enter the air-conditioned dining room where
the table was set with exquisite china and sterling silverware (a
family heirloom). The food was superb - Scallops delicately laced
with saffron and served over pasta penne, oh-so-tender Roast fillet
mignon garnished with French raisins, and Potato au gratin (which
we kept raving about). The dinner rolls were absolutely divine.
To cap the meal, Perla served a delightfully light Apple Crumble
and Mousse au Chocolat. Everyone complimented the hosts for a most
delicious meal.
The after-dinner conversation was so scintillating and interesting
that we found ourselves staying a bit longer. It was an extremely
fine dinner party in every sense. Perla and Bernard are certainly
the perfect hosts for such a cozy fete. Merci beaucoup!*
