Various medical equipment and supplies was donated
by the Medical Supplies Network Inc. of the Rotary District 6110
of Tulsa, Oklahoma to the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital
in Silay City, Negros Occidental, recently, a Capitol press release
said.
Facilitating the donation were Rotarians Larry
Biron, MSNI director for operations and Stanley Togikawa from District
5000 Rotary Club of Ala Moana Shiraki Memorial Foundation in Vancouver,
Honolulu, Hawaii, and the St. Scholastica's Bacolod Alumnae Foundation
Inc. through its vice president, Jean Trebol
The donation contained in a 40-foot container
van, consisted of surgery, anesthesiology and respiratory therapy;
urology equipment; central supply, diagnostic, laboratory and nursing
paraphernalia; orthopedic and physical therapy apparatus and dental
equipment, and hospital beds, the press release said. They called
on the Capitol Tuesday and met with provincial officials headed
by Vice Gov. Isidro Zayco.
Also present during their visit were St. Scholastica's
Bacolod Alumnae Foundation, Inc. president Pilar Mendezona, treasurer
Chole Chua and secretary Jarie Yulo, and Provincial Board Members
Janet Torres, Mae Javellana, Adolfo Mangao, Melvin Ibaņez and Macario
Zafra, among others, the press release added.*

The Scan-A-Prize promo of SM Department Store giving
customers the chance to win various prizes kicked off August 25
and will run until September 30, a press release from the management
said.
Shoppers are entitled to one Scan-a-Prize card
for every P1,000 of single or accumulated receipt purchase at SM
Department Store. Purchases of cellcards, phonecards, SM gift checks,
or concert tickets at the Customer Service Counter, however, are
excluded from the promo.
At stake are a Chevrolet Aveo, P100,000, P10,000,
P1,000 worth of SM gift cards, P10,000 Banco De Oro shopping credits,
LG Entertainment Showcase and F & C Fresh Water Pearl Earring Set,
the press release said.
To get the corresponding number of Scan-a-Prize
card, shoppers must present the proof of purchase within the promo
period at the redemption booth located at the entrance of SM Department
Store at the northwing of SM City Bacolod.
SM shoppers may play the promo by scanning the bar
code at the back of the Scan-a-Prize card in the redemption booth,
the press release added.*

language seminar set
A seminar on child language disorders will be conducted
by Lee Ann Lofranco at the Little Theater, St. John's Institute
in Bacolod City, on Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., a press release
from the Speech and Language Clinic said.
The nature of various language disorders as these
deficits relate to disabling conditions such as autism, autism spectrum
disorder, specific language impairment, and global cognitive deficits
will be discussed, the press release said.
Lofranco is a speech language pathologist who has
several years of experience dealing with children and adults with
communication disorders, it also said. Those who wish for more information
