Former solon denies link
to La Libertad ambush
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Former Rep. Jacinto Paras (Neg. Or., 1st district) yesterday vehemently denied the statements of one of the suspects in the La Libertad ambush, that he masterminded the incident on March 9, 2007.

Paras said he does not personally know William Paunilian who was presented to the media and the PNP deputy regional commander during the PNP recognition day Friday, last week following his arrest in Caloocan City, Metro Manila.

He said Paunilian's statements are a complete turn-around from what he has sworn in an affidavit before the public attorney's office in Guihulngan on May 25.

Disband RPA-ABB, Bayan calls

The Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-Negros yesterday called for the disarming and disbandment of the Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Bongcayao Brigade because of alleged escalating cases of violence perpetrated by the group.

Felipe Levy Gelle Jr., BAYAN secretary-general, said in a press release that the long lists of crimes against the people are enough proof that the group must be disarmed and disbanded. The latest among the crimes is the abduction of NFSW organizer Joefril Along and Michael Celeste on Aug. 12 in Hacienda Elian, Brgy. San Pablo, Manapla, he said.
