Registration of voters
ends Sunday: Comelec
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Comelec registrar Mavil Majarucon yesterday said the last days for the filing of applications for registration as Sangguniang Kabataan voters will be today and Sunday.

She said many were confused, thinking that there was a registration for the SK yesterday.

The President issued Proclamation No. 1345 declaring August 3 as a special holiday for all high school and college students aged 15-17 by Oct. 29, so that they can register for the elections. Majarucon clarified that there was no registration held yesterday but the declaration of the President was meant to allow the students to go home so they could prepare for the registration during the weekend.

In Bacolod, there are 21 registration centers in the different barangays which are mostly held in the schools in the area.

The synchronized Barangay and SK elections will be held on Oct. 29, 2007. This year marks the fourth SK elections. The first three were held in 1992, 1996 and 2002.*CGS
