VMC gets bomb scare
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A "bomb scare" that caused that caused the evacuation of people from the two buildings inside the Victorias Milling Company compound in Victorias City, yesterday turned out be a hoax, police chief Norberto Boston said.

The bomb threat at VMC was the second prank call received by the police within this week, the other being at the West Negros College in Bacolod City on July 31.

Boston said an unidentified woman phone caller who sounded in a hurry, informed a staff member of the Negros del Norte Planters Association building at about 9:30 a.m. that a bomb was about to explode..

Occupants of the planter's association building and its adjacent building were immediately evacuated as members of the Explosives Ordnance Division of the 6th Regional Mobile Group conducted search clearing inspection of the area.

Boston, however, said that after almost two hours of search by RMG bomb experts, assisted by Victorias City policemen, the clearing operation yielded a negative result.

He said the prankster may have wanted to test the alertness of the police in responding to an emergency situation.*GPB
