Warrant served,
but no Ponteras
BY PATRICK PANGILINAN

Bacolod City Police Office director, Senior Supt. Ronilo Quebrar, yesterday said they have received the warrants of arrests and are now searching for the two former BCPO chiefs tagged in the kidnapping of former Barangay Pahanocoy captain Eleuterio Salabas.

Quebrar said they received the warrants against formers Bacolod City police chiefs Vicente Ponteras and George Bajelot Thursday and added that BCPO Warrant and Subpoena Branch operatives had gone to Ponteras' residence but did not find him there.

As for Bajelot's case, Quebrar said that they will let the Oriental Negros police arrest him as he reportedly resides in Zamboangita town.

Quebrar had earlier said they will arrest the former police chiefs, because "the law is the law" and they will just be doing their job in apprehending them.

Ponteras and Bajelot were added to the list of former policemen tagged in the kidnap-slay of Salabas, Maximo Lomoljo, and Ricardo Suganob in 2003 after Oriental Negros First Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Fidel Macauyag filed an amended information before the Guihulngan Regional Trial Court on July 12.

The inclusion of Ponteras and Bajelot in the Salabas kidnap-slay case brings to 12 the number of former policemen accused for the kidnap-slay.

Other police officers named as respondents are Inspectors Clarence Dongail, Jonathan Lorilla, Bonifer Gotas, SPO2 Freddie Natividad, SPO4 Jimmy Fortaleza, SPO1 Nelson Grijaldo, PO2's Allen Winston Hulleza, Nelson Belandres, Ruel Villacanas, and PO1 Bernardo Cimatu.*PP
