The Philippine Medical Association held its annual convention recently with Senators
Loren Legarda and Chiz Escudero as special guests, a press release from the group
said. In the same occasion, the Negros Occidental Medical
Society held the induction of its second-termer president, Dr. Inocentes Lauveņa
Jr. The other officers who will be inducted on Aug. 19 are Drs. Sebastian Tabuga
- vice president; Ma. Teresa Villaruz-Jochico - secretary and treasurer; Anna
Elizabeth Gonzaga-Ramos - assistant secretary and treasurer; Augustus Ceasar Tan
- P.R.O.. The Councilors are Drs. Homer Baloyo, Enigardo Legislador,
Judith Bionat, Jane Capistrano, Jovy Vergara, Eli Cong, Heidi Villarosa, Rosalie
David, Evelyn Geraldoy and Marlon Tabligan. Inducting officer will be PMA president,
Dr. Jose Asa Sabili, the press release said. Meanwhile, the
PMA is informing its members that the amnesty for their annual dues has been extended

Free
medical check-ups ongoing at mall
The ongoing "Gamot para sa Kapwa" program was recently launched nationwide by
the SM Foundation Inc. to provide medical routine check-ups to its shoppers, a
press release from the management said. Booths are being placed
inside the malls where Philippine National Red Cross representatives conduct blood
pressure check-up, blood-typing, and first-aid demonstrations, among other services
for free. The project will run until Aug. 30, and is being
held in cooperation with the Shopping Center Management Corp., Watsons, PNRC,
and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Those

Low
supply of water set
The Bacolod City Water District announced in a press release yesterday that there
will be low water pressure to no water supply from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today in
some portions of its service area, due to the repair of Henrietta/Magsungay distribution
lines. Affected areas are Henrietta Village, Magsungay, Airport
Subdivision, and Villa Servando. Consumers are advised to
take necessary measures to avoid inconvenience, the press release added.* back
