The Western Visayas police posted the highest crime solution efficiency
among the country's 17 regions in the first quarter of 2007, records
of the Directorate for Investigation and Detection Management show.
DIDM records indicated that 751 of the 776 reported crimes
in six provinces of Western Visayas, including Negros Occidental,
were solved, registering a crime solution efficiency of 94 percent.
On the other hand, the average monthly crime rate in Western
Visayas was reported at three incidents per 100,000 population,
in the same period.
Incidents of physical injuries topped the crimes against
persons in Region 6 with 183, murder - 110, rape - 89 and homicide
- 66.
Crime against property in the same period reached 96 with
44 incidents of robbery and 52 of theft.
The Central Visayas police, which also supervises the Oriental
Negros Police Provincial Office, posted the lowest crime solution
efficiency, with an average below passing grade, which was 74 percent.
Compared to other regions in the country, Western Visayas is relatively
