arts exhibit slated

A three-week art exhibit starting June 2 will be hosted by the PAGHIDArtist, a sub-group of Pax Christi Pilipinas, at the Orange Gallery, Brgy. Mandalagan, in Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

About 20 paintings focusing on human rights violation are aimed to be exhibited. Best paintings will be brought to Germany for another exhibit, the press release said.

Babaylan dancers
join Aliwan Fiesta

The Babaylan Festival dancers from Bago City, Negros Occidental, joined the 5th Aliwan Festival called the "Philippines' Grandest Fiesta" at Roxas Boulevard, CCP Complex in Manila that started Thursday and will end today, a press release from the group said.

The delegation is composed of 120 performers and production staff mostly from Bago City College, and will compete against 19 other festivals in the country.

Babaylan Festival was one of the top 10 best festivals in the country last year, and is the only representative of the province in this year's Aliwan festivities, the press release added.*

Bantay Bayan to
induct officers tomorrow

The newly-elected officers of the Bantay Bayan Foundation Inc. will be inducted into office on Sunday at the North Negros College in Cadiz City.

Mayor Salvador Escalante will be the inducting officer and guest speaker, while Chief Inspector Jefferson Descallar and BBFI Regional Director Greg Jimena will deliver a brief message, respectively. Alexander Llosas, BBFI City Director - Cadiz Chapter, and Agustin Jesmar Desuyo, adviser will give the opening and closing remarks.

To be inducted are Alex Llosas, city director; Romeo Felimon, deputy director; Joseph Yangco, secretary; Florentino Rayos, treasurer; Susano Junio, asst. treasurer; Carlos Sarabia, auditor; Leo Lucasan, business manager, and Mario Torres, press information officer.

Members of the board of directors are Abondio Palabrica, Hermogenez Martinez, Felipe Condez, Morito Anoran, Felipe Lopez, Melecio Yap, Camilo Zamora, Romy Gilbaliga, Antonio Abraham and Noel Pelagio.*HLG
