Suspect in murder
of girl surrenders

The suspect in a heinous crime that took place in Isabela, Negros Occidental, himself up to the police who said the case is now considered solved.

The surrender of a 16-year-old suspect on Tuesday whose identity is being withheld by the DAILY STAR, was facilitated by Brgy. Capt. Elenita Torillo and Kagawad Rolando Berio. Police investigations show that the suspect was responsible for stabbing to death Michelle Sitoy, 11, and slashing her elder sister, Letecia, 16, in her neck.

The suspect admitted stabbing the two sisters but claimed he was not aware of what he did as he was drunk when the incident took place on April 20 at the residence of victims in Sitio Magsaysay, Brgy. Mansablay, Isabela.

Michelle was declared dead on arrival at the Ignacio Arroyo Sr.District Hospital in Isabela, where her sister was also treated for hack wounds in the neck. The suspect who also admitted using a stainless knife but, denied he had intended to molest the two victims, whose brother, Jinky, is his friend.

The two victims and their brother are orphans, and are neighbors of the suspect who is now under the custody of the Isabela Police Station.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, the suspect said he and five other friends drank six bottles of Tanduay rhum, shortly before the gruesome incident took place.

The case of the minor has been referred to the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Isabela police investigators are now murder and frustrated murder charges against him in court.

Early this week, the suspect in the brutal killing of a couple in Bago City on February 27, also surrendered to the police saying he wanted to clear his name.*GPB

3 injured in stabbing, mauling

Three persons were brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in stabbing and mauling incidents in the Negros Occidental yesterday, hospital records said.

Vinancio Eblaka, 41, was rushed to CLMMRH with injuries on his stomach and back after Ricks de la Cruz allegedly stabbed him in a commotion at Inauayan, Cauayan town, at about 12:50 a.m. yesterday, hospital reports showed. Genie Gallegor, 19, reported to the Police Station 3 that a certain "Jason" stabbed him on his back without any provocation while he was cooking barbeque outside his house in Purok Kamunsil, Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City at about 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Victor Ombao, 31, of Silay City, was treated for wounds on the right side of his face at CLMMRH after an unidentified person allegedly mauled him without any provocation at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, hospital records showed.*PP

PDEA apprehends drug pusher

Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested another suspected drug pusher in Victorias City, Negros Occidental, Wednesday, the fourth drug personality apprehended in two weeks in Negros Occidental.

Supt. Rolen Balquin, PDEA regional director, yesterday identified the suspect arrested during a buy-bust operation as Celso Titong, 31, a resident of St. Martin Subdivision in Victorias City.

He said the arrest of Titong also yielded seven sachets of suspected shabu and P300 in marked money, as well as shabu paraphernalia.

Three other drug pushers were also arrested previously by PDEA operatives in the cities of Kabankalan and Bacolod, and that led to the recovery of about 45 grams of shabu worth P250,000. The arrested suspect is now locked up in jail.*GPB
