The Dumaguete City government can save water when the waste water
treatment facility at Quezon Park starts operating this year, Vice
Mayor William Ablong said.
He said the city is presently paying a big amount of money
to the city water district for its monthly consumption, that includes
the watering of plants and for toilets and other needs at the city
hall.
When the facility that will treat water from the public market
becomes operational, the treated water is used for these activities,
Ablong said. Waste water has organic fertilizer for the fast growth
of the plants, he said.
Aside from reducing water consumption, the facility will also
help eliminate the foul odor at the Rizal Boulevard and the presence
of couliform bacteria.
Ablong said that, based on the environmental study of the boulevard,
the couliform bacteria is 10 times higher than the normal level.
The facility will also serve as a show window of the commercial
establishments and hospitals in Dumaguete City, Ablong added.*MA
