Petron signed recently the purchase agreement of San Carlos Bioenergy Inc. ethanol to produce ethanol-blended gasoline, a press release said.

The pact with Petron boosted SCBI's track record as the site of the first ethanol plant in the country. Aside from producing ethanol, SCBI also produces power, double than the plant's requirements, the press release added.

The excess power produced by SCBI assures the community in San Carlos of a more efficient and reliable supply of electricity.

SCBI is also licensed to sell its carbon credits, being officially registered with the Clean Development Mechanism-Tokyo Protocol, the press release said, the press release said. *
