stay unscathed

Defending champion Education Training and Center School-Domingo Lacson National High School blanked International Little League of Manila, 11-0, yesterday to top the opening-round of the girls' Junior League 13-14 division of the Philippine Series in Tanauan, Batangas.

Substitute pitcher Michelle Lentija got a rare start and did not disappoint, Analie Benjamin came through with a solid relief job, while Cindy Carol Banay and Clariz Palma proved lethal at bat as ETCS-DLNHS clinched its second win in as many games. They will play a double-header today against their first victim, Nueva Ecija and ILLAM today with two victories assuring them of a twice-to-beat edge in the championship match.

Shorthanded Bad Boyz
stuns BBC in LNA7 tilt

An undermanned Bad Boyz quintet pulled the rug from under BBC, 96-93, Tuesday night at the resumption of the inaugural LNA7 Sports Foundation, Inc. Inter-Barkada Basketball Tournament at the West Negros College Gym in Bacolod City.

Erson Isuga and former St. La Salle varsity standout Joebert Lomotan shot 16 points each to carry Bad Boyz, playing with only 11 players, to its first victory in the tournament. Ryan Concha, Philip Famucol and Ren Ren Lacson also scored in double figures, joining hands for 35 points to offset the combined 34-point output of BBC's top guns Elmer Antonio and Joebert Pastias.

Firefly, Lady Dragon eye nat'l

Firefly, the women's champion of the Knights of Columbus/Sharp/Panasonic Phils. Open Trio Bowling Tournament, and Lady Dragon will represent Occidental Negros-Bacolod City Bowlers Association in the 30th Federation of Bowlers Organization of the Philippines National Championship from April 18 to 22 at the Dover Mega Lanes in Davao City.

Carrying the flag for the local squads are Vilma Robles, Susan Robles, Tess Robles, Mildred Coleongco and Yoly Tan for Firefly, while Bebing Uy, Lars del Castillo, Betsy Tan, Clara Pajarilla, Precy Pillo, Cecile Biendo, and Romero will be donning the Dragon uniform. Meanwhile, the three-day Gov. Joseph Maraņon Cup Panaad Sang Negros Bowlfest will unfold April 20 at the New Top's Millennium Plaza in Bacolod City.
