PMP backs Maraņon,
Zayco, Ferrer in polls

Local leaders of the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino in Negros Occidental headed by provincial chairman Valladolid Mayor Ricardo Presbitero Jr., are adopting Governor Joseph Maraņon, Vice Governor Isidro Zayco and fourth district congressional candidate Jeffrey Ferrer as their official candidates.

The United Opposition-Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino acknowledges that the platform of government espoused by the three candidates are consistent with the populist stand of the party, including all their pro-poor programs implemented in their previous terms, Presbitero said in a press statement. Presbitero said that the UNO-PMP party did not organize candidates to run against Maranon, Zayco and Ferrer because all the three have "proven their outstanding leadership and effectiveness in government administration."

He said the effects of the seven point program in the province of Negros is felt and has trickled down to the barangay level, and much has been seen in terms of growth in productivity, the local economy and tourism oriented development initiatives that have made Negros Occidental a famous tourist destination in the country, he said.

The UNO-PMP 0fficials in Negros are the following: Ernesto Librando - 1st District, Vicente Gasataya - 2nd District,. Janus Harder - 3rd District, Rene Corral - 4th District, Renato Guion - 5th District, Sammy Jabagat - 6th District and Rose Clemente - lone District of Bacolod City.*
