The Department of Tourism will classify all hotel and pension house accommodations and rates including those in Dumaguete City.

All hotels will undergo classification based on the standards of the Department Tourism, city tourism officer Jaybee Aquino said. She added that her office and the City Tourism Council will create a Task Force to conduct an ocular inspection of hotels and pension houses that number around 40. The result will be the basis for the Council to recommend to the Sangguniang Panlungsod, for a resolution on the problem.

Aquino said that, through the classification, all hotel and pension house owners will be aware of the need for improvement of their establishment based on the standards of the DOT. She added that her office has received complaints from foreign tourists against the poor hotel services, cleanliness and sanitation of hotels.*MA
