Police raided illegal cockfighting and illegal gambling activities held during the Lenten holidays in Sitio Dawis, Barangay Canlargo, Bais City and in Sitio Bato, Barangay Basak, Zamboanguita, Oriental Negros.

In Zamboanguita, operatives raided "cara y cruz" and "tigbakay" activities and confiscated various paraphernalia used by the maintainers of the illegal gambling games, and two fighting cocks with gaff in the makeshift arena. The maintainers of the illegal trade, bettors and spectators escaped, however.

In Bais, the police swooped down on an illegal cockfighting activity held in Sitio Dawis, Barangay Canlargo. Upon seeing the raiding team, the maintainers, bettors, and spectators hurriedly left and abandoned the place, investigation showed.

Confiscated in the makeshift arena were two wounded fighting cocks with gaffs, police said.*RG
