The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Negros Occidental
has collected P1.66 million in fees from fishery operations in 2006.
The amount is higher by P336,635 compared to 2005 collection
of P1,323,458 from its offices in Bacolod and Cadiz, BFAR records
show. Fees are collected from fishpond rentals of P1,000 per hectare.
Negros Occidental has 2,341 hectares of fishponds.
Fishing boats also pay for clearances, licenses, logbook
registration and processing.*
