A group of Negros artists will hold an exhibit of
artworks, performances and ethnic music and workshops at the Pagdiwata
Festival of Puerto Princesa, Palawan from April 15 to 30.
The artists will hold workshops for young people
on the visual arts and theater in their presentation called "Arte
Negrense Dos," to be staged at the Kamarikutan Kape and Galeri and
its spacious forested grounds, a press release from the group said.
The group is composed of Jojo Rejollo, Rex Cuenca,
Teng Cristales, Mencius Martinez, Milton Dionzon, Louie Dormido,
Carmel Hibaler and Chona Espinosa.
Later they will be joined by other Negrense artists
from other parts of the country. They include ethnic musicians Perry
Argel, Mike Tupas, Jason Canoy, photographer Toto Tarrosa, Neil
Pacilan, among others, the press release said.
Palawan-based artist Mario Lubrico and flutist
Ems Lucasan will welcome them.
Opening day programs will feature representations
of Negrense festivals - MassKara, Babaylan and Mudpack. The Pagdiwata
Festival is a gathering of groups representing the many indigenous
tribes of Palawan with their arts, crafts, music, dances and rituals,
