One man who stabbed and another shot dead on Black Saturday in
Sitio Guba, Barangay Poblacion, Sta. Catalina, and in Sitio Malasbalas,
Barangay Kansumandig, La Libertad, both in Oriental Negros.
Stab was Emmanuel Binan, 32, married, allegedly by Ildefonso
Teves, Sr., 63, widower, of Barangay Poblacion, at the victim's
residence, with a 14-inch double bladed hunting knife.
Initial police investigation disclosed that, Teves Sr. went
to the house of Binan, armed with a knife and without any provocation
stabbed him in the lower part of his breast, and left portion of
his back, near the armpit, resulting in his death. Binan was rushed
the Bayawan District Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival
by the attending physician.
Teves voluntarily surrendered to the Sta. Catalina police,
accompanied by his son Elmero, and bringing with him the weapon
used in the killing.
In La Libertad, farmer Michael Cornelio, 19, single, was shot
dead by unidentified persons, with a firearm of an undetermined
caliber. He succumbed to a gunshot wound in his chest. The police
are still investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a motorcycle and an Easy Ride collided along
the National Highway of Barangay Masaplod, in Dauin town, also last
Saturday.
Initial investigation disclosed that both vehicles were going
in the same direction with the motorcycle driven by Santiago Mascardo,
of Dalaquit, Zamboanguita, following the easy Ride driven by Alonzo
Chang, of legal age, of Tigbawan, Lazi, Maria, Siquijor.
Both drivers said another vehicle ahead of them suddenly turned
left causing them to immediately applying their brakes. The motorcycle
hit the back of the Easy Ride causing its driver to lose control.
He suffered injuries on his head and in different parts of the body.
Chang was rushed to the Silliman University Medical Foundation
and is now out of danger.*RG
