exemption explained
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

All schools under the Association of Local Colleges and Universities like the Bacolod City College are exempted from seeking permits for their courses as long as they have complied with the minimum standards required by the Commission on Higher Education, Secretary to the Mayor Roger Balo said.

He said the BCC Board of Trustees had unanimously passed in Year 2000 Resolution No. 17 approving the opening of Bachelor of Science in Education and B.S. Elementary Education courses starting 2002-2003. It had also unanimously approved Resolution No. 8 for the opening of B.S. in Office Administration effective school year 2002-2002, he said.

CHED had issued Order No. 97 Series of 1997 granting BCC the authority to offer B.S. in Industrial Technology course Major in Technology and Electronics effective 1997-1998 which was signed by CHED Chairman Angel Alcala, Balo said. He said CHED also issued Order 40 B.S. granting BCC the authority to office B.S. in Business Administration Major in Entrepreneurship effective 1997-1998.

Balo said that in the last teacher's examination, the Elementary Education graduates of BCC got an average of 93.75 percent against the national passing average of 29 percent. He said five out of eight of the BCC graduates in the secondary education passed the examination, with a passing average of 64 percent as against the national passing average of 36 percent.*CGS
