Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman yesterday reiterated that he was just doing his job when he installed 57 farmer beneficiaries in Hacienda Velez Malaga, La Castellana, and he does not believe he acted in contempt of court.

Mario Diaz, counsel of landowner Roberto Cuenca, on March 27 filed contempt charges against Pangandaman, DAR Undersecretaries Narciso Nieto and Jefrry Galan, regional and provincial agrarian reform officers Alexis Arsenal and Stephen Leonidas, Senior Supts. Reynaldo Rafal and Pedro Merced, Lt. Col. Jess Manangquil, 11th Infantry Battalion commander, and La Castellana police chief Regidor Alvarado before the Supreme Court.

Diaz said Pangandaman carried out the installation of the beneficiaries despite a case pending before the Supreme Court. moremoremore

Political gimmick, Puentevella says
BY CHRYSEE SAMILLANO

Bacolod Permits and Licensing Division head Ardis Jaculina yesterday said she has filed a complaint before the police against Bacolod Rep. Monico Puentevella for allegedly intimidating her when his team campaigned at City Hall Friday morning.

Jaculina did not issue Phuture Visions Co. Inc., owned by the sons of the solon, a Mayor's permit since what they had applied for was the renewal of their business for "Professional Services, Band/Entertainment Services" at 26th-Lacson streets, Bacolod City, and not for bingo operations at SM City Bacolod in Brgy. 12. When the City Legal Office stopped the company from operating its bingo business at the SM City without a permit, PVI filed a petition for mandamus against the city officials.

The petition was however, dismissed by the Regional Trial Court on March 21, for lack of merit. moremoremore

100 cops arrive in Neg. Occ.
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

More than 100 troopers of the 6th Regional Mobile Group were released to the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office during the weekend.

Senior Supt. Rosendo Franco, police provincial director, yesterday said the troopers, who will be soon distributed to undermanned police stations and provincial mobile groups, are now undergoing re-orientation at Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr. in Bacolod City.

The downloading of police troopers to various main police units in Western Visayas was triggered by the incorporation of 250 newly-recruited policemen to the 6th Regional Mobile Group stationed at Camp Aniceto Lacson in Victorias City. moremoremore
