YMCA drawing tilt
winners named

The Young Men's Christian Association of Negros Occidental Inc. announced the winners of the Regional Arts Drawing Contest sponsored by the YMCA of Cebu recently, a press release from YMCA said.

First place winner was Ellamia Huilar of Negros Occidental, second place went to the contestant from YMCA of Iloilo, and third place - YMCA of Leyte, it also said.

The seven regions who participated in the contest were the YMCAs of Talisay, Ormoc, Leyte, Negros Occiental, Oriental Negros, Iloilo, and Cebu, the press release added.*

Club triumphs in
dog agility contest

Members of the K9 Obedience Club of Negros won 1st runner-up honors in the National Dog Agility Competition held at the Crocodile Park in Davao City recently, a press release from the group said yesterday.

Dr. Anna Alagaban's cocker Spaniel Ysa and Nody Villalba's pitbull Tosha, two of the five members of the K9 Obedience Club of Negros who joined the contest, won 1st runner-up trophies in the event participated in by 30 dogs all over the Philippines. Other entries were from Davao, Manila, Tagum. Digos, Kidapawan and General Santos.

The K9 Obedience Club of Negros was organized in 2003 and now has 50 members headed by Donato Poblador. Its office is in Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City, the press release added.*

Walk against
breast cancer slated

The annual Walk Against Breast Cancer will be held by the Philippine Cancer Society and Avon on Oct. 22 simultaneously in Bacolod City, Manila, and Cagayan de Oro, a press release from organizers said.

The event is part of the Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer campaign launched by Avon in 2002 to create awareness and raise funds for the establishment of the Philippine General Hospital Breast Care Center, it also said.

In Bacolod City, the campaign will be launched at noon of Sept. 19 at the Avon Bacolod Branch, Lee U Plaza Building, at Araneta Street, the press release said.

Proceeds of the Walk Against Breast Cancer in Bacolod will go to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. Bazaar set at
St. Vincent's Home

A project called "Bazaar sa St. Vincent's Home" will be held by the Damas de la Claridad, or the Ladies of Charity-Bacolod Chapter, Saturday, at St. Vincent's Home, Brgy. Tangub, Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

Plants, food, delicacies and a mix of novelty items and accessories will be on sale. Simultaneously, a rummage sale will be conducted, and at 2 p.m., Bingo games will be held to raise funds for St. Vincent's Home, to be followed by a concert of local talents at 4 p.m.

For the past 20 years, the Damas has been a major donor of St. Vincent's Home, the press release said.

It is inviting the public to join the bazaar or give donations. Those interested may call St. Vincent's Home at Tel. No. 432-0011, the press release added.*
