PNP calls for sobriety
amid series of killings
BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

Dumaguete City police chief Supt. Dionardo Carlos said he is worried that "copycat vigilantes" might take advantage of the spate of executions of so-called police characters and drug personalities in the city.

Carlos made the statement Tuesday as he reiterated his call for sobriety and public support in preventing the commission of crimes as the country celebrates the National Crime Prevention month.

He said he would appreciate the giving of even the minuet details of crimes that community members may happen to witness.

DoH mulls obstetric
care in NegOr hospitals

The establishment of the Basic Emergency Obstetric Care is being eyed in different district and community hospitals in Oriental Negros to eliminate if not reduce deaths due to pregnancy-related complications.

A three-day seminar workshop on this matter was conducted by the United Nations Children's Fund and spearheaded by officer-in-charge of the integrated provincial health office Dr. Dante Domingo.

Priority primary health facilities were identified, and the amount of funding needed, resources required as well as the formulation of a 5-year EmOC plan were determined.

Motorcyclists ordered
to wear helmet

Motorcyclists in Sibulan town, Oriental Negros, are now required to wear helmets and those passing by on their way north or south outside the municipality would be advised to do the same.

Enforcement of the helmet requirement started last week through a memorandum order dated August 22 addressed to all municipal employees and barangay officials.

Mayor Antonio Renacia issued the memorandum following a road accident on August 14 that seriously injured and later killed barangay kagawad Rolando Garlito, Jr.
