Nat'l swim try-outs
at Panaad slated

The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has approved the Sta. Fe Aquatics-Negros Swimming Association's request for the use of the Panaad Olympic pool as venue of the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association-sanctioned age-group try-outs from Sept. 9-10 in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Rafael "Bukay" Nava, SFA-NSA secretary, said that Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Emilio "Dino" Yulo III helped in processing the association's request for the approval of Capitol.

Bacolod will host the Western Visayas leg of the two-day tournament that will serve as a try-out for future tankers in the RP junior swim team, Nava said. Try-outs in Central and Eastern Visayas, Luzon and Mindanao will also be staged with the winners advancing to the national finals in Laguna in December, he said.

The regional try-out was supposed to be held in October, but PASA president Mark Joseph decided to have the event earlier to give the swimmers ample time to prepare for the nationals, he added. Only registered PASA tankers will be able to qualify for the event, Nava said. *CIT
