Kin of Boy Cuadra
arrested for 'shabu'

Bacolod drug operatives are preparing charges against Jagger Riston Cuadra, 33, who was arrested Friday in a buy-bust operation in Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2, Bacolod City.

Arrested was the second cousin of suspected big-time drug pusher Jose "Kim" Cuadra. He was nabbed when he handed a sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P500 in marked money, SPO1 Nelson Grijaldo, team leader of the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operation Task Group said, yesterday.

Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Napoleon Diamante of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Branch 3, the CAIDSOTG operatives led by SPO4 Ernesto Gonzales, swooped down on Cuadra's house where they recovered 12 more elongated sachets of suspected shabu, police reports said.

The sachets of shabu, a roll of aluminum foil, a disposable lighter and five P100 bills were voluntarily surrendered by Cuadra to the raiding team, police reports said.

The raid was witnessed by Brgy. 2 Kagawad Ramon Jamelo and Elson Canete, the report also said.

Grijaldo said the suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were subjected to examinations at the Bacolod Crime Laboratory and results are expected to be released today.

Cuadra, who is detained at the lock-up cell of the Bacolod City police office, will be facing charges for violation of sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, police reports said.*DMG

Cadiz City SWAT
teams formed

Cadiz police chief Supt. Norberto Boston, said yesterday that he has organized two teams of Special Weapons and Tactics group, composed of eight members each in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.

The formation of the SWAT teams got a boost when Cadiz Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. allocated P1 million for the purchase of combat gear, communication equipment and vehicles.

Escalante yesterday turned over body armor vests and a Mitsubishi military jeep, four ICOM radio handsets and two ammunition reloaders to Boston during the flag-raising ceremony in front of the Cadiz City Hall.

Boston said the assault and sniper rifles and other SWAT gear will follow.

Police records show that the city police stations of Silay and San Carlos already have SWAT teams.

Boston said he is planning to tap SWAT trainors from Camp Crame.

Three other military-type vehicles were also distributed yesterday by Escalante to the Social Welfare and Development, City Agriculture and Veterinary offices.

Escalante said four more vehicles are expected to arrive within a year for distribution to other Cadiz City Hall offices.*GPB

Airport security guard
facing homicide raps

The security guard, who allegedly shot dead the chief security guard of the Negros Veterans Security Agency at the compound of the Bacolod Airport in Brgy. Singcang-Airport Friday, will face homicide charges being readied against him by the police.

Bacolod City police director Senior Supt. Pedro Merced yesterday said he has directed Precinct 8 case investigators to file the charges against Jonathan Sanao, 37, of City Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City before the City Prosecutor's Office.

Sanao voluntarily surrendered to Police Precinct 8 after the incident, while victim Norberto Parreņo, 50, of E.B. Magalona town, Negros Occidental was declared dead on arrival at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod City, Merced said.

Meanwhile, case investigator PO3 Narciso Orbegoso yesterday said he will get the affidavit of Parreņo's family and crime witnesses at Precinct 8 today before filing the charges against Sanao.

Orbegoso said initial investigation showed that Parreņo was about to relieve from his post Sanao, who reportedly failed to close a faucet at the check-in area of the airport.

Parreņo and Sanao had engaged in a heated argument at the guards' barracks before the shooting, he added.

Orbegoso said Sanao told him that at the time of the incident, he was mourning the loss of two of his relatives who had died a few weeks ago. Sanao claimed he was alarmed when he learned that Parreno was planning to relieve him and this resulted in the altercation between them, Orbegoso added.*DMG
