TV station bags KBP awards

The ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corporation garnered 21 awards this year at the 15th Kapisanan ng mga Broadcaster ng Pilipinas Golden Dove Awards, up by four awards from 17 awards last year, a press release from the ABS-CBN Bacolod station said.

The annual ceremony that promotes excellence in Philippine broadcasting was held at the Star Theatre in the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex on Oct. 25.

The MOR 101.5 My Only Radio For Life! In Bacolod, with call letters DWOO headed by production supervisor Harold Limbo, received an award for Best Radio Plug.

Its entry was the wrong/correct reminders that promote good citizenship, civic virtues, and broadcast ethics, the press release said. The campaign does not stop at pointing out and condemning the wrongs against good public order but also suggests solutions and alternatives in a timely, easily understood manner.

These plugs uplift Filipino pride and spirit, specifically that of the Filipino youth, through the positive messages, the press release said.

Also making it to the finalist list are Senior TV reporter Yasmin Pascual-Dormido for Best Field Reporter, and DYXL-TV 4 (ABSCBN Bacolod) for Best TV Station, alongside finalists ABSCBN-Iloilo, Davao and Manila.

The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas gives yearly citations to the best radio and TV broadcast entries received from its member-stations all over the country, the press release added.*
