'Buglasan peaceful'

The Philippine National Police in Oriental Negros released yesterday a post Buglasan assessment report after the 17-day of festivities came to a close Sunday.

City PNP chief, Supt. Dionardo Carlos, sub-task force commander for the Buglasan security, said the success was attributed to the cooperation of everybody.

Carlos said the police conferred and held talks with at least two "warring" gangs in the city to prevent untoward incidents. Leaders of the so-called "hip-hop" gangs and fraternities were brought to a discussion regarding security preparations, he said.

Deployment of security forces were sectoralized and proven effective, he said. They included barangay tanods, reservists, barangay intelligence networks, radio groups, and other organizations aside from the police and army contingents.*JG
