'Operation Undas'
launched

The Philippine National Police provincial command will be launching "Operation Undas" today to ensure the safety of Negrenses and visitors during the All Saints and All Souls celebration in Oriental Negros.

PNP provincial director SrSupt. Omar Buenafe disclosed that augmentation troops deployed during the Buglasan festivities will also be utilized during the observance of the tradition in all public and private cemeteries in Dumaguete City and in the province.

Police stations in the municipalities and cities were also ordered to ensure the smooth flow of traffic, and to guard against carrying of guns and bladed weapons.

Drinking intoxicating beverages inside cemeteries are also prohibited, including the sale of alcoholic and intoxicating drinks.

Buenafe urged the public to immediately report the presence of suspicious-looking persons in cemetery premises and do their share in preventing crimes.

He ordered that suspicious characters be frisked randomly in any designated cemetery inspection centers.*JG
