Iloilo game venues

The National Private Schools and Athletics Association board of directors over the weekend approved the playing venues for the 2007 National PRISAA Games in Iloilo City.

Roger Banzuela, chairman of the Western Visayas PRISAA technical committee, yesterday said that the board of directors was satisfied with the playing facilities during an initial inspection Saturday.

The Iloilo Sports Complex will host the athletics, swimming and lawn tennis competitions, while the ISC Gym and University of San Agustin are the two venues for basketball.

Central Philippine University will stage the table tennis, taekwondo, sepak takraw, badminton and baseball hostilities, while John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation will hold the chess events. CPU might also host some of the lawn tennis games if there will be a lot of entries.

The volleyball games will be showcased at the Iloilo Doctor's College Gym and Covered Court, while the La Paz Plaza will be the venue for the softball competitions.

Banzuela, who also serves as the chairman of the Region VI PRISAA technical committee, said that the final ocular and the submission of the complete list of events will be in February.

The Iloilo City local government has also pledged to give financial support to the Iloilo PRISAA, but the provincial government has yet to give any commitment, Banzuela said.

Iloilo will host the 2007 edition of the annual school-based meet in the tertiary level in behalf of Visayas after Pangasinan staged this year's event for Luzon. The 2005 National PRISAA Games was held in Zamboanga with Mindanao as the host.
