City celebrations
The Masskara Festival this year opened last Sunday with the International
Flag Raising Ceremony attended by city government officials headed
by Mayor Bing Leonardia and MassKara chairman Ely Tanjanlangit,
heads of civic clubs and foreign visitors. The highlight of the
ceremony was the fascinating fireworks. Afterwards, we proceeded
to the opening of the MassKara Village where a hearty merienda was
prepared.

The L'Fisher Hotel also celebrated its 16th anniversary on Sept.
29 that was also a birthday bash for Marides Mapa. Marides, by the
way, gave birth to a lovely baby girl on Oct. 3. The Ciocon clan
welcomed the baby with rejoicing.
The L'Fisher affair started with a Mass officiated by Fathers
Noli Que and John Nadura, followed by the singing of the hotel staff
of the traditional "Happy Birthday" song, greetings for each other,
and bringing in a huge birthday cake and a gift for the celebrator.
A motorcade all over Bacolod with the young ones headed by lawyer
Maridel Ciocon and the Ciocon siblings followed.
Later, the L'Fisher Hotel's 16th Anniversary Dinner Buffet, was
fully packed. Among those seen were birthday celebrator Lino Uy
with his group, Bebing Lopue with her family, Gonzaga sisters Odette,
Sony and Ella, who all enjoyed the sumptuous dinner.
Balikbayan Norma Bitanga Regidor, who really enjoyed her stay
in Bacolod, with Ernie Villaluna of Baguio City, was also present
to attend the class 1956 Golden Jubilee celebration at the University
of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.
The Ciocon ladies, Delia, Ditas and Gina were all busy welcoming
and accommodating the visitors.
To L'Fisher, continue sailing to more success!
Remember: "Hard work brings prosperity; playing around brings
poverty."*
