Three third year students of St. Scholastica's Academy
in Bacolod City faced three students of the University of St. La
Salle in the I-Debate Wednesday.
Kia Gargantiel, Anne Marie Lacson and Victoria
Dreyfus of SSA took the affirmative of the issue, "Should the Number
of School Years in Elementary and High School be Increased?" against
Joven Ledesma, Kristin Legislador and Patricia Salazar of USLS,
a press release from organizers said.
The match was supposed to be the 3rd Preliminary
Match of the 2006 I-Debate Challenge, the 1st Bacolod Inter-School
Debate Tournament - High School Level, between SSA and Bacolod City
National High School.
BCNHS, however, backed out of the tournament
leaving SSA to automatically advance to the Semi-Final Rounds, which
will begin this November, the press release said.
Three teams will advance to the semi-final rounds:
USLS, SSA and La Consolacion College with the top 2 teams to debate
on the proposition: "Should the Environment Give Way to Economic
Development?"
Host-moderator is Ralph Sarmiento.
I-Debate is aired live every Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Mr.
MassKara contest,
motorcade slated today
Alvin Abaņo and Luisa McClinton, Mr. and Ms. Universe-Philippines
2006, respectively, will be special guests at the Mr. MassKara 2006
Bodybuilding competition to be held at 4 p.m. at the Fountain Area
of Robinsons Place Bacolod City.
The contest will be preceded by motorcade of
contestants at 10 a.m. around the city, a press release from organizers
said.
The Novice category of the event will have 20 contestants
while six competitors are participating in the Open level, the press
release added.*

Raffle
winners named
Winners of recent raffle draws at Lopue's Araneta
and East Centre in Bacolod City were announced in a press release
from the management recently.
Ma. Linda Abanil, Mayre Grace Galang, Arturo
Alegarbes and Japhet Claro won in the Family Treat promo, while
Mila Agsam and Azucena Toledano won in the first draw of the Easy
ang Labada promo.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Girl Scouts Council
and the Girl Scouts of the Philippines also announced in a press
release the winners of their recent grand raffle.
First to fifth major prize winners were Shaira
Saldevia of Andres Bonifacio Elementary School. I; Eda Toroy - Domingo
Lacson National High School; Charlotte Villarosa -- Bacolod City
National School; Nilda Monge -- Negros Occidental High School; and
Perlilyn Bautista - ALJES.
Consolation prize winners were Jose Rallos,
Lorelyn Estacion, Lilia Limguangco, Cecil Aparra, Rowela Hemida,
Imelda Nequia, Janica Plomeda, Jun Torrefranca, Marimar Arimar Jemina
and Gladys Mae Casas, the press release said.

Drawing
of lots for
MassKara street dance set
The order of performance for the school and barangay
categories during the MassKara Street Dance Competition in Bacolod
City will be determined through a drawing of lots, Rudy Reveche,
chairman of the street dance committee, said in a press release
yesterday.
For the schools category, the drawing of lots
will be held at the Bacolod City Schools Division Office at Rosario-San
Juan Sts. at 2 p.m. today.
For the barangay category, the procedure will
be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the BAYs Center, the press release
said.
The order of performance for the open category
will be determined after the barangay category street dance competition,
it added.
The Top 10 winners in the barangay category and the
Top 3 in the elementary and high school levels are entitled to join
in the open category. This year, the street dance competition uses
"Bacolod, Siguehon Ta!", the Gerry Grey-composed MassKara music
incorporating the beats of the seven continents of the world, the
press release added.*
