'Those golden years'
To quote Father Iking Balongag's very apropos homily "He has performed
many second marriages, but rarely to the same person, and a marriage
to the same person for fifty years is no mean feat." Ditto! Civic
socialite Marilen Villegas was sporting a golden glow when she said
her "I do" for the second time in fifty years to NegOr's dean of
legal eagles Lenin Victoriano. It certainly was an auspicious affair
for the Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral in Dumaguete City
was filled with the golden spirit; aisle was overflowing with golden
daisies and chrysanthemums and the entourage wore gold outfits and
gowns.
With so much gold, the place was worth millions.
"In the spirit of joy, love and thanksgiving to God, the five
daughters and their entire families flew in from different parts
of the "good ole" U. S. A. to be with their parents in celebration
of their golden years and to be part of the bridal entourage. Principal
Sponsors were Dr. Benjamin Bautista (who stood in for Rep. Herminio
Teves) with Victoria Teves, Maj. Gen. Ramon Montaņo with Dr. Cecilia
Uypitching, Dr. Nicholas Uypitching with Fe Pareja Montaņo, Mario
de la Torre with Edna de la Torre, and Jack Doromal with Josefa
Doromal.
The rest of the golden train was: matron of honor Joaquina Villegas
Lee; maid of honor Ma. Linet Victoriano-Herrera; junior bridesmaids
Kiana Marie and Kayla Anne Victoriano-Garcia; groomsmen Emil Victoriano
Leaņo and Ben Lenin Victoriano-Bautista; flower girls Kyla Nicole
Fernando, Danica Marchan de la Torre, and Micah Victoriano Bautista;
ring bearer Joshua Victoriano Bautista; bible bearer Caleb Nathaniel
Fernando.
Secondary sponsors were daughters and sons-in-law Manuel Leaņo,
Jr. and Maria Victoria Victoriano-Leaņo (candle), Ricardo Ramos,
Jr. and Elena Victoriano-Ramos (veil), and Leo Garcia and Mercedes
Victoriano-Garcia (cord). Basil and Myleen Victoriano-Bautista,
Joseph de la Torre, Ricel Ramos Fernando, Judith and Joe Marie de
la Torre, Maria Luisa de la Torre-Castro and Dawn Marie del la Torre
offered gifts.
"Nous" kibitzed with popular Annie Jalandoni who kindly did the
roll call.
The reception that was "worth its weight in gold" was held at
the Bethel Guest House where Dumaguete and Oriental Negros "who's
who" feasted with a banquet fit for kings.
Every guest was given a bottle of champagne wrapped in gold tulle
as a memento of the wonderful event. "How absolutely posh!"
To the golden couple Marilen and Lenin we wish many more years
of health, wealth and happiness ..............................NOUS!*
