The new financier of Dacongcogon Sugar Mill in Kabankalan City
yesterday said he cannot start hiring workers on Dec. 4 as scheduled
because of a motion filed in court to restrain the implementation
of the agreement he had entered into for the rehabilitation of the
mill.
Celso delos Angeles Jr., operator-lessee of Dacongcogon Sugar
Centeral, in a memorandum to all prospective employees and planter
members of the Dacomgcogon Producers Marketing Association, said
he, together with his technical team, met with all Dacongcogon department
heads Saturday to discuss the status of the mill and possible start
of repair operations.
He said they agreed to start hiring effective Dec. 1 and for
employees to report to work on Dec. 4.
However, after the meeting, the sheriff of the Regional Trial
Court Branch 61 in Kabankalan City served him and board members
of the coop summons to appear on Dec. 4 in court for the hearing
of a motion filed by Virgilio Gasacao, Delia Anacan and Geofrey
Gimena to restrain the implementation of the agreement between him
and the cooperative for the rehabilitation of the mill.
Because of this I cannot start hiring on Dec. 4, he said.
All employees and planters who support the rehabilitation and
continued operation of the mill should appeal to Anacan, Gasacao
and Gimena to withdraw their opposition of the opening of the mill,
he said.
De Los Angeles said they should say no to the continued closure
of the mill, and yes to jobs and progress.
"If you will not help yourself, how can I help you?" he told
the planter members and prospective employees of the mill in his
memorandum.*CPG
