The New People's Army South-East Front Command in Negros island has claimed responsibility for the killing last week of a suspected Army informer in Sitio Mabangion, Brgy. Milagrosa, Sta. Catalina, Oriental Negros.

Investigator Jesus Cañete of the provincial Commission on Human Rights office, said yesterday that the rebel group of four young men two of them armed, gave a handwritten note to the family of the slain Annabel Grajo, after the incident.

The note written on a piece of torn intermediate pad paper bore the words "NPA South-East Front Command." It was unsigned.

The Philippine National Police continued its no-plate, no travel policy campaign and recovered a carnapped motorcycle owned by a foreigner, and also confiscated an unlicensed gun.

The city police recovered the carnapped Honda Wave 125 owned by Bobby Hansen at 3 a.m. Saturday when it was sighted without a plate number.

Arnel Quiñanola, who didn't have a driver's license, drove the orange-silver-colored motorcycle, investigation showed.

The national office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue intensified its campaign against tax evasion by linking its electronic database with local government units to enhance detection and pursuit of businesses evading the payment of taxes.

Jose Senador, chief of the BIR Taxpayers Assistance Section in Oriental Negros, said the bureau is fast-tracking the campaign against tax evasion through the electronic link-up with the LGUs and national government offices.

Assistant BIR Commissioner Pio de Rada said the linkup is part of the effort to tap information from several government entities that could help enhance its tax audit capability.
